I am on a field trip today. Here are the instructions for today's lesson.
Once you have completed your research on the seven stocks, select five for your portfolio and complete the table at the end of the Researching a Company worksheet to indicate how many shares of each stock you will buy. You many not spend more than $2,000, but you should spend as much of the $2,000 as possible. The number of shares you buy of each stock is up to you; just remember you must have five stocks and cannot spend more than $2,000. Of course, each stock will have a different price, so you may have to try different combinations of numbers until you get it right.
Now you are ready to enter the data into the Excel spreadsheet. Click on and open the Excel spreadsheet below.

Click on the file below to get directions how to fill out your spreadsheet for each stock and insert data for the latest trade.

Language of the Stock Market

The stock market is the core of the American economic system.

i. Stocks are shares of ownership in the assets and earnings of a company.

ii. If companies are doing poorly, their stocks are doing poorly. Therefore, poor stock

b. Stocks represent companies which touch every aspect of a person’s life.

i. Every day a person uses hundreds of products from companies listed on the stock market.

ii. Identify one product you have used in the past week.

1. Determine what company made the product

2. Find the stock symbol and today’s price of the stock.

a. Stock symbols and prices can be found on Yahoo Finance

http://finance.yahoo.com

3. With your group, create a poster that shows the products, companies, stock symbols and today's stock prices
